Alrighty, trying some new things out, and this being the first of several with taped off designs. Anyway incredibly happy with the way this one turned out! So started with a two piece catalpa body. Catalpa being similar to ash except it tends to be lighter in weight and has a crazy grain structure, which makes it perfect for natural finishes. Then this one started with several coats of our metallic copper nitro, the on top we hit it with our Vintage White, taped off the sides and added some metallic copper stripes and then finished it off clear lacquer. Didn’t go to crazy with the aging, and also matched the headstock taboot.
The neck is super comfy, looks and plays fantastic along with an off white binding and block inlays. We aged all of the nickel hardware here in house, adding some really sick patina to the entire build. Other than that, this has a pair of Alnico 5 Soapbar P90’s that are vintage voiced to give you some really killer and fat clean tones, and then when you’re ready they can really get dirty and grimey off the line with the classic beef and grind p90’s are known for. This one is a keep we for sure, it looks great incredible, feels like that ball glove you’ve worn in perfectly for several decades. And most important it plays and sounds well above its pay grade!
